| PLANT COLLECTION - Water Lily
Water Lily and lotus
are exceptionally beautiful water plants with floating leaves and large many-petaled fragrant blossoms. They are found in many temperate to tropical regions of the world. In many cultures, they are used for worship and as offering to the god. In most ancient relief sculptures and carvings, Water Lilies have been featured prominently. They also act as wonderful additions to backyard ponds and even "tub gardens."
Water Lilies are available in many shades and fragrances. Some varieties bloom during the day and some varieties bloom in the night. The size of petals and the number of petals also varies, making the range very diverse and colourful. Water Lilies are cross pollinated so there are tremendous chances of having colour mixtures if grown by seeds. For collecting the seeds, keep a watch on the fruit set and then keep it tied with a net bag or else it will float and flow away with water. Water lilies can be multiplied by rhizome, leaf cutting and by seeds.
Red water Lily and white Water Lily are found profoundly through out India.
